If it's leather you may be able to wash off with soapy water but may take some elbow grease.

Turps is another name for white spirit. If you haven't got any of that, then your best method would be hot soapy water and plenty of elbow grease. Might help if you put some neat washing-up liquid on the worst of the marks. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that this will work.

See if you can roll back to the previous shoecolordriver.sys via System Restore. If that doesn't work, Reinstall.

(As in Reinstall yourself somewhere else before your old man gets home.) :p

The elbow grease suggestion is good, too. Got any Saddle Soap handy? :)

If nothing else works, put on some black pants - now! That way when your dad kicks your ass and gets black shoe polish all over the seat of your pants it won't show.

Once I tried to update shoecolordriver.sys, it resulted in a system crash. After recovering from sleep mode I realized there was a conflict between beer 6.0 and walking 2.1. After a good purging followed by a reboot all systems were fine.

Oops sorry, I thought I was being observant. Seems I wasn't!

Funny thread! But to the OP if you can't get the two shoes matching again, you could do to the other shoe what you did to the first one. At least they'll match!

Then put tons of BROWN polish on them, and leave it on for ages.

I damaged some black shoes once, so I put a thick layer of polish on, and never brushed or wiped it off! Of course you can't wear light colored trousers with them when you do this.

It might just work with brown - you never know.

As a last resort, you can also get special shoe paint - just for leather shoes. If painting them brown doesn't work, you can paint them black, but by this time you will have to do the humble pie "please don't kill me" thing with your dad.

But at least the shoes won't have to be thrown out.

Good luck!
