Hi.

I have a user on my domain that gets this error when she loggs on

"\\blabla.loc\home folders\hbg\name of user\desktop is not available. You might not have rights for this resurs. Access Denied"

Something like that. Dont remember the exact words.
But here for the weird part, when she then logs out after that error msg and logs back on, it works without any problems
and if she logs in with her account on another computer it works also, the first time aswell..

So I has to be here computer right? I mean, it cant be anything wrong with the domain, since it works on the second try and works instant on other computers.

I have never seen this error before, so before I reinstall her computer(rather newly reinstalled) I though I would ask here.

Thanks for all help =)

Regards
Greatness

Hello,

I had this problem the other day. In my case it was because they were connected to the wireless and the wired LAN at the same time. I think AD got a little confused.

Ok,

Check the permissions on the users homefolder. Also, give us an ipconfig /all from the client if you can.

Check the event logs on the client machine as well.

She is part of an OU with 65 other users, with the exact same permissions like herself and they have zero problem.

She is part of an DHCP scope and she getting DNS, IP and gateway proberly, there is no leak or drops of information.

Hmm it is a weird one.

Whats the OS of the client machine?
Whats the OS of the Server?

How many CALs do you have installed?

Personally I would do the following:

- Double check the permissions - Theres no harm in being sure.
- Change the network cable
- Run a virus / malwarebytes scan
- Ask them to log onto another PC to see if the fault follows the profile

She is on winXP sp3 - if i cant sort this it will be re-installed to win7
The server is a win2008R2

I have preformed a virusscan\malewarescan, nothing

I have logged on with that profile on 3 other stations and it worked directly
Just rechecked the permissions and she have a duplicate station of the others that work
I have changed NIC and cable. Checked the vlan on the switch and changed her position in the switch to a port i know work

The weirdest part about this hole thing is that its just once. if she relogs on the same computer using the same profile it works the second time.

Its indeed very weird. Never came across anything like this befor

Try renaming the local profile to .old so that it creates a new local profile when logging on.

Is the XP Group Policy client side extensions installed?
