VHD with BitLocker

Good day,

this is my first post here so please, if it has been answered or is in the wrong section, I appology beforehead, just let me know.
I have tried to back-up some data on a local Virtual disk (a .VHD file) encrypted using the new Windows 7 BitLocker feature. Everything went pretty good for a few weeks, but now I actually might have to use that back-up on a computer runing only Windows Vista. I don't want to lose the encryption and obviously, since I need different computer, the original Windows 7 machine isn't around now to access the data. Of course, I could wait until the Win7 computer comes back from repair, but I would like to know if there isn't any other way to get the data. I have the password and recovery file, I just need to see those files on Windows Vista. Since it was encrypted as .VHD disk and not as BitLocker to Go, I am pretty much afraid I have just lost everything. But I have read that Vista/XP have some "BitLocker Reader" that would at least allow me to view the files.
Anyone able to help me?

Hi Illsteward, welcome to the Seven Forums.

Bitlocker To Go is able to read Bitlocker encrypted drives on XP and Vista. It should work if you mount the vhd to Vista. For instance Gizmo can mount not only ISO images but also vhd's. Free download here: Gizmo Drive - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com.

Just install Gizmo, right click its notification icon, mount the vhd and you are ready.
