Video card issue

Hello gang,

My Nvidia 560 stopped working so while I was waiting for the replacement I was using my onboard Intel HD graphics. After I installed the new card, my monitor would not display anything unless it was connected to the onboard graphics.

No big deal I thought. I booted into safe mode, removed all display drivers ( Nvidia and intel) and ran driver sweeper to remove the remnants.

The computer booted with the monitor plugged into the 560 just fine in the crappy resolution. I installed the latest Nvidia drivers downloaded from the website.

Now I get video through POST and the windows loading screen, but when it loads to my desktop the monitor displays no video.

I am trying to avoid reinstalling the OS. Any ideas?

Also keep in mind my motherboard does not have the ability to disable the onboard graphics in the BIOS.

ASRock Extreme7 Gen 3
EVGA Nvidia 560 GTX SC 2GB

Update. I have tried driver versions 301.42 (newest), 295.73 and 285.62.

Now when I boot, I get video past POST into the windows loading screen and after the display goes blank the computer reboots.

Okay. This might sound a little idiotic, but is the card compatible with your system specs??
EDIT: BY this, I mean is that card DDR2 and the mobile only takes DDR3, or vice versa?

Well I have never herd of a graphics card being compatible with systems specs. All the graphics card cares about is that's it's plugged into the correct bus and has drivers to run it

However to answer your question the card has 2Gb or DDR3 ram.

Also note that the card has been running fine in this configuration for about a year.

Terribly sorry, I must have misread/misunderstood the thread.

Can you boot into safe mode (F8)?

I don't know why your graphics settings would be out-of-range for your monitor, but if you can get into safe mode, set the resolution to the the native resolution of your monitor (assuming an LCD monitor), and a 60 Hz refresh rate.

Good luck.

I can boot into safe mode fine with the Nvidia 560, that's why I am thinking it is a driver/windows issue. I am currently installing windows on a new drive to see if windows is the issue

The only possibility I can think of is that the resolution is too high for the monitor you're using. So when you boot to the desktop it stops displaying.
