Okay, so now this video card stuff has taken me to another level of annoyance -.-
It doesn't recognize the format of my monitor, I can't play my 3D games, and I can't video call my girlfriend, so now I'm pissed off >.<

It changed on me when I switched user and logged onto my step brother's account. Then when we were getting on it, it changed from its 16:9 resolution to a 4:3, so could anyone also tell me why this happened?

step 1: where can I find my Driver for the video card? Its like Directx3D or something like that I think, thats what it says on my mother's screen saver.

step 2: what do I do after that? Like how to get it back to normal shape?

I have already tried to instal the driver again on the microsoft website but idk what that fixed, because it didn't fix it actually.

btw, do any of you know how to speed up the compy other than fragmenting? or is that the only way to do it manually without spending money?

Please post your computer specs so we can help you.

For example, which video card do you have, although it is likely to be NVIDIA or RADEON.

DirectX is a set of low-level Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) that provides Windows programs with high-performance hardware-accelerated multimedia support - it isn't your video card.

where do I find video specs? I'm not compy savvy unfortunately, but I do know a bit x.x

oh and so my video card is NVIDIA

You can run a program called Speccy to tell you all the system components: Speccy - System Information - Free Download

Another one that is good for Graphics cards is GPU-Z:GPU-Z Video card GPU Information Utility

Also, I would get your parents help with the steps for speeding up your computer. Depending on what system you have, you can do some of the things in this tutorial: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/11728-optimize-windows-7-a.html

I would advise not to do Step 13 unless you have a dedicated way of restoring the system.

That will do, as it at least has the info to identify what video it has (the summary would likely also provide the make and model of the computer). It has a Nvidia chipset and Nvidia onboard video, NVIDIA GeForce 7050 / NVIDIA nForce 620i,

PCI Vendor and Device Lists

You can find the latest chipset and included video driver for it here,

NVIDIA DRIVERS 15.56 WHQL

Would also be why your games are unplayable, the video driver isn't installed.

okay, well the thing is i think it was uninstalled on its own then. Because i was able to do it before, but now it can't.
any reason why it would change so suddenly?

Do a custom install and only install the following (in bold),

• Ethernet Driver (v73.30) WHQL
• Network Management Tools (v73.25)
• SATAIDE Driver (v11.1.0.43) WHQL
• SATARAID Driver (v11.1.0.43) WHQL
• RAIDTOOL Application (v11.1.0.43) WHQL
• SMBUS Driver (v4.79) WHQL
• SMU Driver (v2.08) WHQL
• GPU Driver (v197.13) WHQL
• PhysX (v9.10.0129)
• Away Mode Driver (v6.0.6000.115) WHQL
• Installer (v8.36)

If any of the others are in the list, uncheck them before proceeding.

Oh and I guess my computer thinks its Resolution is something other than 1440:900. my monitor knows its not 1280:1028 soo yeah ._.
