I have windows 7 64 bit, OEM, original. System is only 9 months old. Problems only started recently, has made playing any game for longer than 45 minutes virtually impossible. Drivers are up to date as of this post.

Have you at any time used an "optimization" program to clean the registry? These programs can cause problems such as what you are experiencing and are not recommended.

I did what was asked, I have not used an optimization program, and the problem is still happening. The SFC /SCANNOW said that nothing was wrong either.

This could be graphics card related since you said it was related to gaming. Follow the steps for Diagnosing basic problems with DirectX. To re-install your display card drivers as outlined in the DirectX link, use the following steps.
Download the latest drivers for your display card(s)
Click Start Menu
Right Click My Computer/Computer
Click Manage
Click Device Manager from the list on the left
Expand Display adapters
Do the following for each adapter (in case you have multiple display cards)
Right click the adapter
Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK
Restart your computer after uninstalling drivers for all display cards
Install the latest driver for the display cards once Windows starts
Alternatively:
Login as an adminstrative user
Download the latest drivers for your display card(s)
Click Start Menu
Click Control Panel
Click Hardware and Sound
Click Device Manager (the last link under Devices and Printers)
Expand Display adapters
Do the following for each adapter (in case you have multiple display cards)
Right click the adapter
Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK
Restart your computer after uninstalling drivers for all display cards
Install the latest driver for the display cards once Windows starts
Also, although you are not getting the TDR crash, the steps in the first three posts of http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lo...op-0x116-video_tdr_error-troubleshooting.html are very good troubleshooting steps for graphics card related errors. usasma is one of the best we have on here with hardware issues, so follow the steps closely.
Any luck with the steps to troubleshoot the graphics card?
