Video file details?

Has anyone noticed if you rightclick on a video file (.avi) and choose properties, you can no longer tell if it's encoded XviD or DivX or Div3 or 4. When we run XP the details show the encoding version... Any way to fix this?

I just checked and it appears you are correct. I never noticed before though, because I always use Virtual Dub or one of the offsprings (AC3 version, MPEG-2, Nandub, MP3 version, Mod version) to do that.

You can manually check the extended Metadata info using exiftool

Is located in the syetem32 directory unless your using 64bit and the lack of a 64bit executable might explain why you can no longer see all the extended properties

What do you mean that would explain? You are saying because I use a x86 version of windows 7 I don't get to see all the details? Older versions of windows we could see all the info..... You're saying if I was using 64bit I'd see more details?

No, Im not saying either of those things... What I was trying to say was that your installation is missing system files related to extended file properties, so without these files you can kinda expect things to not work properly

No, but i've only ever used k-lite codec pack, that might have helped. It works well in Se7en too.

@Orbital Shark - Hmm... Up untill this last version, (7057) I've always used K-Lite codec pack also... @dmex - would that have dispayed the info in previous installs? I thought it would have to do with windows. Who knows...
