I recently upgraded from Windows Starter to Windows 7 Ultimate and am getting flashes and crashes on Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer. I get a bubble message stating, "Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Drivers for Windows Vista(R) stopped responding and has sucessfully recovered." The reliability viewer is telling me

Hi NewYorkGiant and Welcome.

STOP 0x00000117: VIDEO_TDR_TIMEOUT_DETECTED
Usual causes:
Video driver/sub-system

This stop usually occurs when you ask your video/graphics drivers to do more than they are capable of. E.G. play a graphics intense game using only your on board graphics.
Also bear in mind that your installed RAM is very low at 1Gb.

To see if we can help to ease the problem, we really need to see the dump files.

See this thread:

What Fimble is trying to say was - there are no .dmp files in the jcgriff folder.

What are you doing on the Internet Explorer?

Examples...
Watching Videos on Youtube?
Play Online Games? (e.g: Runescape)
Email?

Please note that with 1GB of RAM and onboard graphics - you will be getting decent speed and is incapable of running intense applications (e.g: 3D games, intense movie editing, etc...)

If you are going to run intense programs on that eMachines laptop. Upgrade the hardware or get a new computer that has intense hardware (e.g: at least 2GHz CPU, 1GB GPU card, at least 4GB of RAM)

I don't really do much with IE except view email, some online games like pogo, view P2p files on search sites, etc...nothing too intense. I noticed the problems occurred mainly when I returned to IE after my screensaver became active.

Both Intel and Acer say that the required driver version is 9.1.1.1020. I downloaded the driver utility for the 900 series Chipset Family from Intel, ran it, but then when I check the driver properties it says that version 8.15.10.1930 is the current version installed.
