Video Issue

Sorry if this has been covered, did a search and didn't see anything:

When I try to play videos (.wmv's) I get emaild to me they play in black and white a really washed out looking. Any ideas?

They probably get corrupted somewhere a long the way. How big are the files sizes?

The ones I just got ar 3MB and 7MB. this a a new (couple of months old) machine and it has never workder correctly.

What player do you use for playing. Try VLC - if that gives you the same problem, we will have to look at your graphics driver.

My MSE detected: Adware:Win32/Babylon. Wants to get rid of it.

Its the first false positive MSE is known for. The newest virus definitions mistake the Babylon dictionary/translator as a virus. If you have Babylon installed, don't let MSE remove it. If you don't have it installed, it is indeed malware and needs to be removed.

Have MSE quarantine it. It does not sound like a real nasty, but you do not want to take a chance.

It popped up while I was installing that VLC

Now I get these errors while trying to play a video out of VLC:

Unable to open 'C:\Users\Preferred'
Unable to open 'User\Desktop\RR.wmv'

Sounds like the files are corrupted to me. Were the files already in the .wmv format, or were they in zip or rar folder.

Can you have the person put them is a zip file, then send them to you?

Its not that big of a deal. They're mostly joke emails. I just hoped it was an easy fix.

Just for a test I would try this. Add one of those videos in WLMM and save it then. Maybe WLMM can fix the problems.
