Is it possible for folders to have this information bar that used to be there on older windows OS's? Here's a picture of the information bar I'm talking about. Its highlighted in red.

Can this information bar be enabled again?

Exactly What Bongo said. The details pane will show how many files are in the selected folder. However, It will not show file/folder size.

Okay, thanks guys. I guess if I want that details toolbar, I will have to install Windows XP.

I figured out a way to enable the status bar. Its really easy. I couldn't believe how simple it was. All you have to do is go to folder options, go to the view tab, then in the advanced settings list, tick "always show menus" if you haven't enabled the menus already. Then open any folder, go to the view menu, and tick status bar. That's all there is to it.

i dont get it, looking at the status bar shows "5 items" as there are five files in the folder, however without the status bar ticked, it still shows " 5 items" at the bottom of the window, and it tells me its shared.
so what is the point of the status bar.

Older Windows OS's didn't have a "details pane", they had the status bar instead. Having both enabled would be over kill. If you want your Windows to look old school, then use only the status bar and disable the details pane so it looks like how it does in the picture. If you want the Vista/7 look, disable the status bar and enable the details pane. I personally like the old school look more. So I chose the status bar over the details pane.
