Okay, so I can't change the drive letter.

Epic. It wouldn't be worth the total embarrassment for me if I owned a company responsible for this - I'd step away too.

Do I need to use Partition Magic again?

Sorry what is your questions as I can't make any real sense out of the 2 posts you have made. Other then Disk Management CAN'T do certain thing. Which has been true since Windows NT included a Disk Management system.

Why do you think there are several other Disk Management programs available? If DM could do everything then there wouldn't be these aftermarket programs.

If your Reference to WOZ was about Mac then you may run into the same restrictions using Mac Disk Utility. It can't do certain things even if booted from an external drive without Wiping the complete drive first.

Is it the system partition you are trying to change? If so you are correct it won't allow that. If it did the system would not longer work/Boot.

If it is the other drive in your system then maybe it is also part of the boot system.

Windows is funny how it installs if you have both drives in the system when installing.

If you are sure it is has nothing to do with the operation of the OS then the only restriction to changing a drive letter is assigning one that is not being used by some other drive.

Post a screen shot of the Full Disk Management windows showing all the drives in both the top and bottom part of DM.

No it's not the system partition, the OS is on Disk 0, Disk 1 is just data.. Though I thought somewhere in the past I saw that Win 7 had a habit of installing something on the non-OS drive (when multiple drives are connected).

It's purely a data drive, though from the screen shot I posted previously (http://www.sevenforums.com/general-...ry-option-not-compatible-version-windows.html), it has another 100MB partition preceding it (from the OS install on the Disk 0, this data drive [and others] would be connected, but at no time would a drive with another OS be connected simultaneously)... If Disk 1 (E: is now just a data disk, can that 100MB be deleted or would that impact the E: partition.

Why this is still an issue after how many yrs for MS? Wow.... (unreal)

The E drive is NOT just a DATA drive. It also have the Pagefile on it. That is why you can't change the name. The pagefile is part of the system. Move that to the C drive and you will be able to change the name.

Thanks, yes changing the pagefile allowed the drive letter to be renamed.
