Hey, I tried method two to format in fat32, but I get: virtual disk service error: the volume size is too big. I need 127GB of space for my PS3 that needs FAT32. I tried to partition in 32GB clips(4) but the PS3 only reads the first 32GB partition(PS3 has, for now, 100 GB of data saved) I am going nuts trying to back up. Using windows 7. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Jake

I've never heard of virtual disk service giving messages about a partition being too big. There are limits for FAT32 partitions (8 terabytes by the way) but in FAT32 format there are file size limits, e.g. Programs Files can't be over 4gb (not in your case). Have you tried any other different methods of formatting the drive as FAT32?

You could try exFAT.

On a different problem on this site I did a FAT32 experiment. I found that in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 you can only format FAT32 on a drive if the partition or the drive is less than 32GB. Or you get the error message you stated above.
