Hi, I recently bought a netbook (ASUS N10J) which supports a maximum resolution of 1024x600. I have installed windows 7 on it and it runs pretty well however i have one issue...

Sometimes when you have a window open it will be too big to fit on the screen and cant see the buttons at the bottom.

I know you can get multiple desktops but what i would like is multiple desktops that run onto each other so if a window on desktop 1 goes off screen the bit off screen would appear on a desktop 2.

Hopefully that makes at least some sense :p

Does anyone know of any application or option ive missed that will let you do it?

i'm under the impression this is included in drivers with the "hide modes this moniter cannot display" check box, while some modes may work, others may not.

right click desktop>screen resolution>advanced settings>monitor> uncheck hide modes this monitor cannot display,
go back to the adapter tab, click on the "list all modes" button, and try whats there.

becareful, it may be possible to damage the monitor using unsupported modes, while unlikely, it is possible.

Hey thanks for your reply.

I gave your suggestion a go but the option to "hide modes that this monitor cannot display" is grayed out.

Ive also tried setting a custom resolution (1024x768) in the nvidia driver control panel but when i click the test button it just says "custom mode test failed" without even attempting to switch resoluton.

there used to be a program from intel for laptops to do this, i couldn't find it with a quick search but i'll look around for it more later today.

it will still limit the actual screen size, but it will add extra space so when your mouse moves to the edge it will "scroll" to show the added screen space.

I got the scrolling mode to work on my netbook in a previous install. I had to do a lot of installing and reinstalling of chipset drivers.

I've looked everywhere i know to, excluding actual driver installations of ner decade old drivers and can't find what i was talking about, If anyone else reading this knows wtf i was talking about and where to find it be kind rewind .. i mean post a link or something., I honestly feel for the tiny screen users as i know exactly what a HUGE pain this can be.

I just got a Samsung N140 netbook and the option for modes the monitor cannot display is also greyed out in this one. 768 would seem to be a better resolution but Intel must have decided for us that 600 is better.
