Virtual Machine & Mac OS X Question

Has anyone successfully installed mac OS X Snow Leopard in a W7 virtual machine on a laptop that has an intel Core i series processor?

I've done a web search and found many more questions than answers. So the simple question is: have you done it?

I have someone who asked me if I can set up a laptop to run both OS. She needs to access video equipment that runs Apple and Avid, but does not want to abandon Windows for a Macbook.

If she has enough ram and if it is a virtualization processor then she can use virtual box and have it running as a VM

Installing Mac OS to any other computer than Mac is not allowed, it's very clearly against Mac OS EULA. Second, if your friend is not going to buy a Mac it most probably means you would have to use a pirated copy of Mac OS, so it's quite risky to ask this here on Seven Forums

That said, I have tested this. I bought a Mac Book, only to get a legal copy Mac OSX 10.6, the Snow Leopard, to test it on a Windows 7 virtual machine. Works without any problems. Surfing the web I can see a lot of people having problems with this, but I have had absolutely zero problems testing this. Of course the fact that I was using original, valid install media can be one reason why I have not encountered any problems.

However, I should be more clear.
My question is not "can I create a virtual machine?" , or "can I run OSX in a virtual machine?". So much.

It is: will Mac OSX Snow Leopard run on the new Intel Core i series computers?

Currently Macs are using Core 2 machines. I see no Macs with Core i series processors. The PC architecture is very different between the two platforms, so unless Apple has developed the OS to do so I am doubtful.

If she had a laptop with a Core 2 processor it would be simple. The web is crawling with info on hackintoshes. But given that she has a laptop with an i5 in it I would probably advise her to bite the bullet on go on ebay for an old mac. I just don't want to tell her it can't be done and then have her find out it could. Then I would be found out as the clueless old fart that I am!

The screenshot in my previous post shows Snow Leopard (Mac OSX 10.6) running on Windows 7 / VirtualBox, on an HP Pavilion laptop with i3-380M 2.53 GHz processor. As I mentioned, the install media used was valid, original, and installation was a piece of cake.

Because Mac OSX EULA's restrictions, I am not willing to tell anything more about the installation procedure and steps needed. You asked if it's possible, the screenshot in my previous post answers that question.

Hey Thanks Kari. I looked at your System Specs and saw the Core2 so I thought that was what I was looking at. You've answered my question.

Perfunctory Disclaimer: This is all just for geeky curiosity. I would not consider going outside my legal permissions. Buying an Apple computer is the only wholesome option.

No, my system specs are for my work laptop. This I'm using now is an i3. Sorry, I forgot to mention that on my first post.
