Is it possible to use the Virtual PC Beta in 7 for another OS?

From my understanding, previous versions of VPC use software virtualisation while this beta uses hardware virtualisation, so it's better for testing other operating systems.

Worked this out myself.

I had been looking for the virtual pc console as in previous versions, but all that's needed is to visit C:\Users\user\Virtual Machines and use the toolbar button to 'create virtual machine'

Hi all
use VIRTUAL BOX (Free)
VMWARE WORKSTATION (pay)
VMPLAYER (FREE)
VMWARE SERVER (Free but a bit more tricky to work)

If you use VMPLAYER you'll need to download QEMU so you can CREATE Virtual machines - vmplayer only allows you to run existing virtual machines but the QEMU program enables you to create a VM and then you can use vmware workstation.

The idea of Virtual PC was excellent but it's TOO SLOW if you enable the desktop integration and even then you can't get proper colour / monitor resolution.

Of course if you use any of these alternatives you'll have to install your own Windows XP system from an install image -- the XP image for virtual PC might be useable if you can convert the virtual disk - but you might have problems with Virtual Hardware compatability - so use your own Windows XP install image.

You can get an XP image / install disk from MSDN technet or - well I'm not saying and it's illegal.

Cheers

That's nice but do you still have the ability to run XPM applications in vista with these other programs?
