Virtual PC Network Adapter Issue

So i recently covnerted my XP environment to a virtual environment with virtual PC. I am having an issue getting the nic to work properly. i set it to NAT, bridged, etc with no success. i notice in a clean installation (ie XP mode) there is a network adapter that is craeted. how do i go about creating an adapter to work within my xp environment that i virtualized? Any and all help is greatly appreciated! Thanks! :D

I have never had any problems with getting XP vm's in Virtual PC to network with host and to connect to Internet. Just go to vm's settings, select Networking in the left pane, set number of adapters to 1 and choose your host's NIC from drop down list. Click OK to save settings.

VM should be shut down, not hibernated or running when changing this setting.
