Virtual XP Suddenly Lost Internet

I haven't used the Virtual XP very recently. I started it up and it doesn't connect through internet explorer or my antivirus update. Nothing.

I have not made any networking changes to the VM and none that I know of to the host. Dynamic IP and DNS for both VM and Host.

My host connects through wireless (cable internet). First time this has happened. I did a reboot of the host and nothing.

You may end up going through the entire reinstall process all over again if recycling power on the router or refreshing any drivers for the network adapter on 7 doesn't help.

That was one thing about XP I always hated was seeing dropoffs with the old dls setup here. I'm still trying to add a wireless/hardwire router inbetween the system and the cable model here for work on any secondary cases like an old Socket A case now available for seeing how 7 will run there briefly.

The XP mode itself is still in beta form. Where you end up needing that reinstall. Check under network adapters when you have the XP mode loaded up again and see how that looks there. The settings and entries there are saved once that is shutdown even while you can everything refreshed on 7.

I uninstalled, reinstalled and have the same VM as before (same programs installed). And the same internet problem as before.

That's an odd one if you saw a clean install and no results again. Have you tried a fresh download of the VPC and XP mode to see if that will help?

I'm wondering if you need to look in the control panel>internet options same as right clickin on the IE icon and looked in the connections tab if you end up seeing a dial up or vpn item. If you see anything there make sure to remove it. Once I get the VPC and XP mode on two fresh installs of the RCs here I can look for anything else you may have to see done like setting the network sharing to home.

The reinstall of the VM was from a fresh download of the program. I have checked Internet Settings and nothing has changed.

After uninstalling (again) from add and remove programs, I discovered I had to manually delete the VHD file (even though the uninstaller said it would automatically do that).

Reinstalled a fresh XP VM and still no connection through NAT. Changed my adapter to Intel and it's now working. I want to find out why NAT suddenly stopped working for me though.

Any ideas?

You mentioned changing the network adapter to Intel. Something altered that to some other item. The Intel adapter is seen here as well. In fact as soon as I simply copied the files over from the host over to the 32bit RC I'm still booted since installing the VPC and XP mode like I was mentioning before

Both the XP mode and Vista install previously seen connect on the spot! The XP mode still needed to configured a bit while the Vista installation remembered everything. I took a few snips from both to look at here from the 32bit desktop as well as the files simply copied over.
