Virtualization supported, activated, and yet...

Hello everybody :)

As some around here, I have a problem and hope that you might help me.

I installed Windows virtual machine, Virtual XP with virtualization activated in BIOS and when I launch it, I get the message:

"Virtual XP couldn't be started. Activate Virtualization in BIOS and try again"

any ideas? :)

It would help if you list your system spec's and tell us exactly what you enabled in the bios.

Hi mcfly0570,

Do you have a multi-core processor? Just because your BIOS says that virtualization is activated doesn't necessarily mean that this is the case. Surprisingly, many BIOSes still allow you to enable/disable the floppy drive even if there is no provision on the motherboard. As John says, please provide your system info and we can take it from there.

Yep, I had that message on my Dell M1330 but then when I changed it in the BIOS it all worked fine.

I am having this problem. I checked and the E6600 C2D does support VT, and it IS ENAbled in BIOS, and i have disabled and reenabled it. My specs are all entered.. maybe its something to do with my motherboard? I'll research more, but if anyone else has this problem, let me know. I'd like to get a VM XP machine up for stupid old games that just dont' run in w7 (civ2 for instance is really really not meant for w7 x64)

remember, when you enable VT you HAVE TO SHUTDOWN the PC after you save the bios changes. Then just boot it back up.

normally, it's supposed to be able to do it, and in BIOs, what can be enabled, is enabled...
