Never use 2 virusscanners. Uninstall MSE... you can always reinstall later.
To disable firewall http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/522-windows-firewall-turn-off.html
To even clean boot http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorial...ation-conflicts-performing-clean-startup.html

Don't forget to reenable firewall after testing. Do forget to revert to "normal boot" after testing.

You only have http related errors btw. It's not a proxy problem

I did all of the above as you suggested, and got the same negative result. Still cannot access the internet.

So, I did the normal boot and restarted the Windows Firewall, but I still have AVG disabled. I uninstalled MSE.

I see you have a new post below, so I'll try that now.

Did you reset the winsock already? Still problems after reboot? If so:
Run Elevated Command Prompt
Code:
netsh int ip reset reset.txt
Post screenshot. All tcp/ip settings are now reset to default [sort of tcp/ip reinstall]. Did you change any tcp/ip settings? ....most of the time all setting were "automatic".

After that: Reboot and test. Have to go in 15 minutes

Not a netwoking problem... only webbrowser stuff doesn't work. No DNS problem, no routing problem. No firewall problem, no virusscanner problem. Not a proxyserver problem. No other faulty application (you did a clean startup). All tcp/ip stuff has been rest (although it ws working already). Winsock reset.

Maybe still a nasty virus?

Please check eventlog for relevant errors and post.

WOW! That did it!

Thank you! Danke! Gracias! Tousind Tak! Merci!

I am now able to use IE, FF, and Chrome. I have successfully downloaded and installed the updates to AVG Anti-Virus and am running a complete virus scan to make sure that this mayhem is over.

I will, of course, test further and let you know via this thread if there are any new points to mention, but so far it appears that KAKTUSSOFT IS A GENIUS.

Thanks again! Also to Indiana and Golden and the others who helped on this vexing situation.

YAY! Glad you're up and running :dinesh::dinesh::dinesh::dinesh:!

Me too...all 3 are working fine now: IE, FF, and Chrome.

But Windows Update has 12 files to install and it won't install them. It's "help" routine says I should delete them and download again. But I can't find a way to delete them. Do you know that secret?

FOUND IT!

MS sure has an archaic way of doing things. I've deleted the non-installed files and Windows Update is now checking for new updates.

Dragging on...and on...and on...and on.

Yeah, I was out too. Bought a new microwave. Got it home. Plugged it in. SPARKS ALL OVER LIKE THE FOURTH OF JULY. Just as bad as WinUpdate.

Thanks again, Indiana.

The updates finally installed but the reboot is forever. Yikes...will it ever end?

To be sure that I got it right, I copied it from that post and pasted it into Notepad, named it Reset.bat, copied it from my backup machine to the stricken pc, then ran it as admin (which I maybe didn't do right as I'm certainly not a pro). But I tried.

Hi Everyone

Regarding this issue(the title of the thread):

I have the SAME problem... and have found out EXACTLY what is causing it. As a computer repair expert, I am baffled as to SOLVE the problem, but with the help of everyone putting ideas based on what I found out, this MALWARE issue WILL BE SOLVED.

Here is what happened: This file was created and is the problem,"C:\windows\SysWOW64\AdpeakProxy.dll"
(GO ahead! Go into AVG virus vault and restore that file! Boom! It works! All the browsers work Again!)

It is a PROXY DLL that's a virus which is installed when Scorpion-ware was maliciously installed on the victims computer. AVG knows it's bad, but unfortunately doesn't realize that the OS has been messed with, IN WHICH
the OS is looking for AdpeakProxy.dll for the Proxy service! But it's gone! So how to fix it?

We need to find out WHERE is the Original Proxy DLL!? And also where in the registry (most likely) is the DLL referenced.
