Hi people.
I've only used the site so far as an oracle, and have been v happy with the advice I've had.
i now have a problem that I seem unable to solve, so would welcome some more personal advice.

i have a Compaq Presario CQ62, running Win 7, home premium, x64.
For the last year, I've had what I assume is a virus, although not one of the many AV/AS programmes I have scanned with has identified an issue. This has included rootkit scans. The 'virus' just appeared, although I thought Utorrent may have been to blame.

The symptom is a new home page just opening at random, on top of anything I'm doing. This can happen loads of times in succession, can happen once, or not happen for ages. I am not redirected and the home page is genuine, whichever I happen to have made it.

I have reintalled the OS twice, once at a professional shop, and once at home, with no luck, using a licenced disk.

I have now carried out a 3rd total reinstall, and have religiously followed the forum instructions regarding 'diskpart' and 'clean all', hoping to deal with it once and for all. As soon as I connected, I downloaded MSE, which is currently active.

I had high hopes, but on my return from town, I saw that 2 homepages had opened spontaneously.
I am now both perplexed and pee'd off.

I would appreciate and and all advice....

Ian

Considering all that you have done, I would suspect possible an issue with your keyboard.

Have you spilled anything on it?

What browsers do you use?

Is this issue happening with any of them, or just one?

Fine for me...I'm retired!
hi all, and thanks for the replies.
I use FF, but it happens on any browser I use.
I've tried Malware Bytes, Norton, AVG, SAS, rootkiller, MSE, Avast etc.....

I shall try adware cleaner as recommended.

I too thought that there was a keyboard issue. I shall investigate further. I have just tried the ctrl+n shortcut to open a new home page, and that is exactly what I am experiencing. Bizarre!! Can I turn shortcuts off? I'm going to clean both keys, but I'm stumped. Is it an easy job to replace the keyboard?

thanks again

Hi,
What's the home page that pops up ?
Post a screen shot or url of it ?
You can take that url and add it to your restricted sites zone in Internet explorer :/
Cheers.
