@rigz,
Altap Salamander actually was made to be a file manager until some tech's discovered it RSHA capability. Frankly (imho) it is weak when searching hidden files(you can't find a rouge with this app) chances are because you trusted the file manager you missed Herss.exe. There are far more better apps to use when hunting hidden/replicating files. And I do not use the default windows search when I hunt down a rouge I use a far more better/meaner beast but then again, as I always mention, this is just me.
The post is an opinion sharing (where upon learning that you have removed the virus and cured your system) I made an open effort to give an opinion of how "your event" transpired and possible solutions to undertake to not have a "game over" situation again. There was nothing in the post mentioning "use this-use that", if there was a closely related term it was with "..that's just me".
So with that ("that's-just-me-thing") it is in fact the "ball is in your hand now" (re: ..."now my virus was cured its my now dcsion how to prevent it..and what should i used ,sir..---as you eloquently pointed out").
Just inputs to an apparently-solved-but-not yet-closed-thread. The post was still open as you did not request the mods to close it to discourage additional commenting. And, as all members who want to share and help, I posted to add help opinion. It is upon you what course you will take. Whatever you choose:
a. prevention or cure
b. accept/not-accept the "wrong-user-input-wrong-app-usage-fact"
c. stay naive and trust yourself..etc.
..it will be on you and not with "us" who share's help opinion to your regard. All replies have a clear intention that is to help you, as Layback Bear said,
You take care kid and thank you.
