Solved Viruses and Spyware

Last night my laptop was sitting idle for a few hours. I had Word 2010 minimized but didn't have any documents opened in Word. When I went to shut down my PC, I closed out Word and a document from 2 days ago was opened but minimized. Is it possible for malware to open/minimize documents? No one else uses my computer and I didn't open any documents last night...

Are there any other signs that your laptop is behaving oddly? What anti-malware software do you have installed?

You can always use ESET Online scanning to check to be sure.

My virus protection is Kaspersky PURE. And I will try the ESET online scanner. I'm not really noticing any other kind odd behaviors...yet.

A bit late with this post but i just read the thread.
One thing i would like to ask, viz. what do you call idle?
I am asking because there are reports on internet (google for it) about this mode with the warning that hackers can get access if a computer is on idle. You should go offline even then and not leave it connected for hours.

If you suspect a virus but cannot find anything with the regular AV programs,
try Norton's Power Eraser as mentioned e.g. by theog under "Does anyone recognize these infections?", permalink #12. Be careful though with what you erase. It may come up with legitimate programs. And be sure to take the version
that can be used with Windows 7. I've downloaded it but never had to use it yet.
