As far as I've seen, some people still prefer XP, some Vista and some 7.
IMO I like Vista and 7. What are your opinions? I'd sure like to know... ;)

7 Because it's got more eye candy than vista!! And i LOVE eye candy :)

Vista Because it's got more eye candy than xp. And i LOVE eye candy :)

Oh and i'd rather run 2000 pro than xp. I don't know why, but i just never took to it over 2000, which is strange because i'm a real eye candy whore these days :o

XP ... Because Vista and W7 has removed some tools that I use daily.

It seems that M$ has forgot there's a difference in the display of, and the purpose for, Icons and Thumbnails.
Since when .. Is a Thumbnail of some, but not all, Image files .. and Icon ???
I have noticed that the new Adobe Reader modifies the Thumbnail of a pdf file so you can tell it's a pdf in Vista or W7 now.

M$ seems to think no one would want to customize their R Click context menus.

You can no longer make customized tool bars and add them to any edge of your screen(s).

I'm still trying to figure out what good is pinning an application to the tool bar in W7 ..
If you can't drag a file to the app and open it in the app.

Pretty eye candy, toys and gadgets are OK ... But quit removing my power tools.

Sometimes ... I feel like my Gson has been playing in my tool box.

XP because it's faster. I could care less about eye candy. Just using 7 to learn it.

You can do it if you UNLOCK your task bar. Right click on it and uncheck "Lock the task bar". ;)

I too would like to be able to make new toolbars for other edges of the screen in 7.

You can open a file dropped on a pinned icon in 7100+ by holding down the shift key. I just wish I could open a whole group of files in this way. Say 10 .jpg's on my photo app. I can do that with the quicklaunch bar, but the idea is to replace the ql bar.

I like W7 because of the stability and eye candy. Also seems to have much better handling of RAM. I also like Libraries a lot.

I do need to do some playing around with Vista SP2 though as I've read that it is much better now that SP2 is out. Got it installed so just need to play.

@Cool Guy, unlocking the taskbar means you can move it not create another. In Vista you could put a bunch of shortcuts into a folder and drag it to a screen edge and walla, new toolbar. I liked that.

Hummm ...
Unlock does allow me to make a "new" taskbar .. (in the taskbar only) ..
where I can drag a file to the app Icon and open it.
I sorta prefer the looks of the New Taskbar in the Taskbar

Just tried the Shift key trick ... Many Thanks.

Isn't this cute ..
a Thumbnail (W7's Icon) of a desktop picture "clipboard" .. gets hidden on the desktop.

I just stepped back into my XP(32bit) production computer after a month of not using it.

This thing is blazing compared to 7100(64 bit). Memory management still seems steps ahead of windows 7. I was liking windows7 more, but it might have been because I wasn't really stressing the system, once I started it felt very sluggish.

Well I have to say on my DV7 I'm going with Windows 7, guess you can say I'm already saving some cash here and there for my copy. On my other laptop the DV5 I have to go with XP 32bit, just due to the memory on it. I might buy some more ram soon so then I might want to load 7. Guess it all comes down to what hardware I'm using and where Im heading that day.

I am loving Win7. 7 continually surprises me by how stable it is, and its only in the RC phase, just think how nice the RTM version will be. Only thing I think MS should do is make just two versions. One for all of us, and one for enterprise or one for us and one for servers. I don't think we need multiple versions of the same OS. Other than that I like Win7, and if it continues to work as well as it has I will buy a copy.

Not a MS fanboy. I like computers period, and have used many different OS's and they all serve a purpose. But MS has surprised me.

Good by XP, you are old, and I am over you. its on to the next MS OS. I am using Win7 full time and it runs great. Even on only 1 gig RAM! I am upgrading my RAM soon, and it will be even better.

There you go, thats what I think.

After the novelty of 7's pretty face wore off, and the realisation that 64 bit computing is just another marketing tool, i am back to using XP Pro.

My much needed software VOIP ( Freshtel), Nostromo games controller, and elderly Canon scanner work great with XP but not with 7.

XP aint broken so i dont intend to bother with anything else anytime soon .

Good points. I'm not a hardcore early adoptor. I like Win7 and I say use what you like, whatever gets the job done. I'm not much for debating which OS is better, I just use the one I like. Wish it didn't need so much RAM, or HD space. but so far so good.

I still have an XP box too. Its getting jelous of Win7 though.

its all a trade off. More specs to run the new OS in order to use the eye candy, but I like it.

We'll see how well the RTM does.
