Vista BootScreen in Windows7

If your screen resolution is less than 600 vertical pixels you get the Vista-style screen.

Here's what Steve Sinofsky has to say on the Endineering Windows 7 Blog in response to a question why the Dell Mini 9 has the Vista-style boot screen...
re: Engineering the Windows 7 Boot Animation
@Alan_Burchill -- the new sequence requires a native resolution higher than the 1024x600, "It gets a pointer to the frame buffer from the firmware (either BIOS or UEFI firmware), and displays a higher resolution image (1024 x 768)."

No, and from the lengthy article on how much work went into the W7 boot process, I doubt those of us with little screens ever will.
Screen-envy, I guess....LOL

I've got the perfect way to fix it! I've got an eeePC 900a -- bought it refurb for $180. Replaced the awful 4GB SSD and 1GB slow RAM with a fast SATA mini PCIe 64GB SSD and now I only see that Vista boot animation for 1.5sec. You can close your eyes that long ;)

What I find strange is that my computer is older than yours, more crappier than yours (check my specs) yet I get the 7 boot screen.

I read online somewhere that you can replace an integrated GPU with a newer one, but where to get the newer one (and where to find the tutorial), I just don't know.

It's all in the vertical resolution. <768=vista startup
