Hello Bob, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Sorry, but no Vista Enterprise is not a valid in-place upgrade path to Windows 7 Professional. Only to Windows 7 Enterprise instead. For more on this, see the red warning box in this tutorial below. :(

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1818-upgrade-install-windows-7-a.html

However, you may be able to do a clean or custom install with your upgrade Windows 7 version instead. The tutorial below can help show you how to do this as well if needed.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Win 7 upgradeable from Vista Enterprise!

:)
Hello,
Thanks for the help. I used the W7 upgrade disk to install 7 even though I was running V Enterprise.
I did not check the upgrade route, instead I simply installed Win 7 and Ta-Da. Win 7 is working Fine, except very slow.
Also I now have a WindowsOld file on the hard drive. How do I get rid of this file after moving everything I want?
Again thanks for the info, it was very helpful.
Bob

Delete Windows.old using Disk Cleanup, but first:

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/19151-windows-old-folder-delete.html

Check Windows Updates for any more recent drivers.

Then check Device Manager for any hardware in error (yellow exclamation mark) and click on it, use Driver tab to Update that driver - try online first then browse to the windows/system32/drivers or /driverstore file in the windows.old folder where your old drivers are.

In Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Performance Information and Tools\Advanced Tools: study perfomance log and generate a system health report

Once you get everything you want out of it, just right-click and delete it.
