Vista to windows 7 need to know about language

Hi,

I have a vista, the problem is i live in France so the computer is french with the language.
Anyway way want to upgrade to windows 7 but i want the english version!!
Will it work do i have to upgrade to a french version and then change language afterwards.
By the wayi don't mind wiping the hard drive Please help me i need to get this vista crap of my computer!!!!

I very seriously doubt you would have any problem.

Just do a clean install, booting from your Windows 7 disc, and choose English as the language on one of the earliest screens you see.

And don't forget to also set the french keyboard at the time you choose English as the language. I run an English Vista and Win7 on a German system with a German keyboard - no problems.

Ok,

Here's the thing i downloaded and installed already a windows 7 doing a custom install when i installed this i had to install in french otherwise it wouldn't let me install. After that i changed the language pack to english,no problem, however after 1 month my computer would not boot propperly error said something about os mismatch.
So i'm a little worried about doing this are you sure it won't be a problem,
By the way i had to deinstall windows 7 to get my computer running again!!!

No, I am not sure, because I have always used just English. I would just find it very peculiar if a clean install could not be done in the language of your choice.

However, when you installed, did you:

1: choose English at the first opportunity

2: chose "drive options, advanced" when you come to the screen that asks you to select where to install Windows 7?

3: on the next screen after "drive options, advanced", choose to delete all partitions?

That's the general method for doing a clean install.



Do you have just one drive and operating system installed on your PC?

I suppose it is possible you could be forced to do a French install and could then change to English after the fact?
