I get references to Visual Basics on my pc when trying to download a program (game). It sounds like this is a program that I should have, but I do not. Any info would be helpful, and welcome..TIA

If you get a reference to Visual Basic, really depends on, if your getting a "run time" error or just a reference that you missing a file. If it's a run time error, then that is a software programming bug that the original programmer messed up on. Only way to fix that is one of two ways;

1) Go to that manufacture's website and looking for any updates or software patches for that software you have, download it and install it to your computer.

2) Reverse engineer that software although I would not recommend that unless you have a full grasp on programming in Visual Basic.

The OP says it's during the download. Likely the site is notifying that the VB run times are required if they don't already exist on the system. The way I read it, the program isn't even running yet. Tough to get run time errors then.

It doesn't hurt to download the latest VB run times unless you have a slow connection that makes you pay per byte. A global search for the DLLs should determine if they are on the system or not.

For the rest I'd run the program and get an error before conjecture.

The OP isn't clear about the "error". It could be an AV popup warning. Just got three from one site off a Bing search. The preview looked legit but as soon as I clicked the link, up jumped two js and one pdf warning. And all I was looking for was an electric motor wiring diagram. :eek:
