I have been searching everywhere for the answer to this and I'm ready to throw my computer out the window, I'm not really sure where to post this but it is driving me insane.

Every time I press a command key, Shift, Ctrl, or Alt it comes up with a box right in the center of my screen telling me what button I pressed. I have looked everywhere for how to fix it and it is not sticky keys or anything in the ease of access center as everything is turned off.

I am about ready to tear my hair out and I'd really appreciate some help turning this nuisance off.

my usb lenovo keyboard does that too - it has nothing to do with windows, its a hardware feature. Might be true for you also

I found the solution after much frustration and endless searching.

The problem was my handwriting feature for my graphics tablet was on and collecting data, so there was feedback about what keys I was pressing, I don't know how long it's been doing it but I only just noticed it, when I went into my tablet and tablet pen settings I turned off handwriting et voila! All of the floating modifiers have gone!
