VLC disables W7 visual effects

Hey All

RIght, I have used VLC for years now and not run into any issues but I seem to have an annoying issue at the moment.

VLC "was" giving pixelated video in fullscreen mode. I solved this as stated on the VLC forums and put on DirectX Video Playback. Here is the source where I got that from:

The VideoLAN Forums • View topic - Video pixelated in fullscreen

Since then though, my visual themes on W7 always disable and go into simple mode. All the see through effects dissappear and it goes very plain. Now, this is only happening when VLC is open. Im guessing its to do with DirectX disabling them on purpose for some reason (I dont know how DX actually works so it could be a simple or complex reason). On XP I never had to touch any settings to make VLC work and never had any pixel issues on fullscreen. Is there a way that anyone knows off to stop VLC pixelating and to not have my visual effects changed every time?

Thanks

Scott

There is a RC version of VLC(1.0.3) that resolves the issue of pixalated video in the default output mode
in Windows 7.

The RC can be downloaded at this link.

Works great now but it does lead me to another question.

Say im watching something and the scene suddenly has a massive change, lets say from an indoor scene to a vast landscape, sometimes videos pause for a moment (the sound continues) and then when the video continues (which is still in sync with the sound) i get a few seconds of weird graphical issues. I had this issues ages ago on XP and I managed to get it to go away but I cant remember how. Any ideas?

It only happens in VLC though, no other applications.

Maybe it the antivirus?

Or maybe you should set (don't know where exactly it is) in the codec menu buffer to lowest latency.

How about a system restart?

VLC is not supponed to work with codec, so thats strange, but codec fixed that issue ;)

I am using "K-Lite codec pack full" : k lite codec pack - Recherche Google
