VMware - Authorization Service not running (Google has not helped)

I am trying to create and run a virtual machine Using VMware (ver 8.0.0 build 471780), on windows 7 - 64 bit.

Although the 'VMware Authorization Service' is started under services, when I try to run the VM I get this error - "Authorization Service not running".

Also, When I create a new VM, the newly created VM is not shown in the Workstation VM's list. Clicking on close to exit the application does nothing. One needs to kill the Workstation and then reopen to see the newly created VM.

I have searched google endlessly. Nothing has helped so far. I am officially going nuts.

I asume this is Workstation and not player versión...

You could try to uninstall and then reinstall the program, maybe some incorrect configuration has to do with this. Next time you reinstall, try "Run as administrator" option in a context menu over the setup file.

If you try again with this, be sure to remove every folder named VMware in your system, or you can use the kb article from them VMware KB: Cleaning up after an incomplete deinstallation on a Windows host
If this won't do it, maybe your service is starting as manual instead of automatic, but it cannot be, because yu say it is already starting...

I restored my OS and reinstalled from scratch. It Worked finally!!!
Installing user had, admin privileges and also ran the setup as Administrator. (I also, Disabled UAC not sure if actually needed to do this.)

What beats me is, If admin priviledges are absolutely required, then why not prevent the installer from installing otherwise?

Had tried this earlier, didnt work either. Had also tried adding current user to _vmuser_ group.

Well, executing as admin gives you full rights (sometimes fixes problems, but is not always required...), so you can reenable UAC so you can benefit for extra security tools.
