CORRECTION; I activated Window's
Voice Recognition (and did not install Dell's Speech Recognition as I said in prior question) on Dell M5110 laptop a few days ago and it was working OK. Today I continued work on same document I started before but all my dictation now appears in a box and I have to click "Insert". How do I delete the box and have my dictation appear directly in the text as it did before today? Thanks.:

Welcome to the Seven Forums

Try Right clicking on the WSR mike and select options. Click disable dictation scratchpad.

Use the dictation scratchpad

Voice Recognition Program new issue

Jerry,
Sincere thanks for your advise which solved my WSR scratch pad problem. I have disabled it and it no longer appears.

I have another problem for you or others more familiar with the program than me if you can kindly help again. Since 2 days ago, as I dictate, the program keeps automatically and repeatedly entering a string of 4-5 garbled versions of misspelled "the" such as "tthe hte thhe" etc. They suddenly appear in between valid text words I am dictating and I must stop each time and painfully go in and delete them and rejoin my valid text words. A few dictated words later and they appear again. Any suggestions for how to permanently delete them from reappearing?

A related issue is that the program also occasionally inserts a phrase or an abbreviation I did not dictate but comes from a document I long ago prepared. When I activated WSR, I clicked the option to allow the program to access prior documents I had prepared so it could better learn my writing style and words. I assume that is where the program is getting these phrases and abbreviations, but nothing I am dictating sounds similar to them.

My question for both of these issues is: how does one permanently delete such text or other text that may automatically be inserted so the program does not keep repeatedly inserting them? Thanks again to you or anyone who has had this problem and solved it.

Wayne

You're welcome glad I can help with your first problem.

Your other problems could be various things, what kind of microphone are you using? It could also be the position of your microphone.

I use Dragon NaturallySpeaking so I'm not really familiar with Windows voice recognition program, you could try some more training through the program to see if that helps.
