Thanks for replies but still no joy, even tried running windows explorer as administrator but all i get back from the xp laptop is

"you do not have permission to access.....contact your network administrator to requst access"

I am the sole user on both computers, with auto access on bootup.

everything was fine till yesterday havnt a clue whats changed.

everthing in the laptop shows shared even run the shared folder wizard a few times and gone into properties in "my computer" and have the c drive shared.

at a lost, would be grateful for any further help please.

Change the IP's to : WIN7 IP protocol 4: 192.168.1.1
: WIN XP : 192.168.1.2
Apply the setting's on both.
Now, Share both PC's HDD's with Full permissions(All permissions tick-box's ticked as "Allow")(Basically Full Control.)
Now,From the xp > RUN > CMD > PING 192.168.1.1 (Check for the REPLY)
Now, If replied on the ping
- RUN > \\192.168.1.1 (Still xp machine)

What do you get? The 7 machine should prompt you for the username & psw.

Doesn't work? Try CMD > \\192.168.1.1\C$ (Admin access)

Reply once tried.
