Hi,
I installed W7 ultimate 64bits and since I use Google chrome, I installed that, with the toolbar, but every time I reboot PC, CHrome is gone:shock:
On the toolbar is only IE8...
What is going on? On XP this never happened??
Can I safely get rid off IE and "keep" Chrome? I am afraid to delete it, or uninstall it cause I might not have a IE at all...

TIA

This can be difficult to diagnose. It could be a conflict with your antivirus software, the Google installer might be messing up, you might have some malware on your machine that's interfering. Couple of things to try:

Run a full malware scan with your resident antimalware program. I's also suggest the free Malwarebytes as a supplemental scan. Don't forget to update the data bases.

Try troubleshooting with a Clean Startup (aka Clean Boot).

Also found this Google forum thread with several suggestions on what might work. First incident of disappearing Google Chrome was 12/3/08. Last entry was 9/9/11. Apparently this is an ongoing issue.

Google Chrome keeps mysteriously disappearing - Google Chrome Help

You can't really delete or uninstall Internet Explorer. You can, however, turn it off. The core components remain on your machine so other programs and applications that need it will still work - even though you don't use it as a browser.

Thank you for reply, yes it sounds similar to the problems you gave links to..except mine is gone immediately after restart...

And on top of that I made a folder on desktop called "tools", I rebooted and poof, the folder is gone:confused: Where did it go??? It seems that something keeps resetting W-7 to some default, or something like that, but I don't want to speculate

For your info, I did a clean install on a New 64GB Samsung SSD...so no viruses.

The only things that I fiddled with, was to relocate the "User" file to another disc, following the tutorial...

TIA...cheers

There are often complicated Permissioning problems/failures during installs with the Downloads folder linked to another partition or HD.

I stopped linking them there due to this.

You may find that needing to reverse this right after reinstall, it is easier to clean reinstall. If so follow these steps to get a perfect reinstall based on thousands done here: Reinstalling Windows 7
