W-7 Ultimate not recognizing the MS system disc it was loaded from

I was going to run the MS disc to attempt to repair a glitch in my system and it advised to use the disc it was loaded from as this (original disc) was not recognized.

Here is the story: I had a Samsung SSD that froze. Attempts to clear it failed, so I used a 40GB HDD to fresh load W-7 and updates, including service pack 2. With the computer running off the fresh load on the HDD, the SSD was hooked up where a storage HDD was originally, and with Samsung Magician the SSD was un-frozen and formatted. Then, using Acronis-13 the HDD cloned the SSD. The HDD was removed and it now runs off the SSD.

Did cloning the SSD make it no longer recognize the system program that put the data on it? Or maybe SP-2 being loaded?

You might want to check out the SP-2 that downloaded.

The only service pack for W7 is SP1.

I would start over with a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 this time correctly booting latest official installer w/SP1 provided, with all other HD's unplugged, deleting all partitions during install to create and format new as desired.

Would have sworn I saw SP on the lineup of updates and was thinking it was 2, but rechecking installed updates I was wrong- no SP's installed.

Will have to digest all the material you referred to Greg (lots for a tired 'ole brain) -Looks like a week end project!
