W7 64 bit PC update error 0x800f081f. Update kb2984976 fails

Hey all,

I had some maleware on my PC and Bleepingcomputer helped me get rid of it. Since then I have been unable to successfully run Windows update to install update kb2984976 but instead receive code 8024200d.

I have run SURT repeatedly and have just completed running sfc as administrator and it found no problems.

Tried to attach the CBS zip file but received a 500- Internal Server Error.

I would greatly appreciate any help as I am hopelessly lost on this topic.

The error uploading the files is almost certainly because the file is too large - remove the older CBSPersist files until the compressed file size is under 8MB and try again.

Cant erase the previous version of CBS in the Logs folder because I get a pop-up indicating "action cant be performed because the file is open in Windows Module Installer."
The Log contained in the folder is 161 Mb in size, compressed its 8.75Mb so I cant upload and I cant erase.
Kinda stuck
I cant get the Windows Installer to go away.

Who asked you to delete the CBS.log file - I certainly didn't.

please upload the compressed file to a fileshare site (preferably Dropbox or OneDrive) and post a link.
