I'm kind of having the same problems.
Can you tell what the model number of the card is.

For right now, do you have any extra wireless cards, like external cards.
See if it happens when you plug it in.

Updated my drivers, still the problem remains. This is the only issue with w7 on my laptop and it is really annoying, cause i need wireless internet quite often. any other ideas how to deal with this?

what you need to do is find driver for winxp, and force it to install it... from device manager...

how it worked for me ( not wirteless, but same princip, download xpdriver fore wirelesscard and it should work

What you need to do is:
Go to asus HomePage, download driver for winxp for you motherboard (p5k in my case) now dont open no .exe ****, it will just say not combatible...
now open you "Device manager" Go to "network adapters" "Atheros BLA BLA BLA L1 Gigabit ect ect ect", now rightclick and "update driver software"
"Browse my computer for driver software" "let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer" then you click "Have disk" now browse your files (if you download it from asus the dir will be: "AtherosL1>>x86x64>>WinXP_32>>and then some .inf file....Open it!!!Then you get a list of devices, pick the oldest one, and PUF it works :D Just download BFH, playing mysic from playlist.com, video on youtube, porn on pornhub xD, and no crash after i did this... Hope it helps... If it dont, write me : [email protected]... Will gladly help you, since those prics at asus told me there will be no fix untill w7 is released -.-!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How did you update the drivers?

If you didn't get them from the Intel site, here's a link: Download Software, Drivers and Utilities Filters
Ensure that you select the correct Vista version (32 bit or 64 bit) and download it.

Uninstall your current wireless drivers through Control Panel...Programs...Uninstall a program
Right click on the Vista driver and select the Compatibility tab
Then select the "Change settings for all users" button
Select "Run as Windows Vista" and "Run as administrator", then click on Apply and OK to exit the dialogs.
Right click on the installer and select "Run as administrator" and let it install.

If it still gives you the BSOD, please zip up the contents of the C:\Windows\Minidump directory and upload the .zip file here for us to have a look at.

Hi Usasma,

sorry to bump an old post and I've literally just registered this page because this is the seem to resemble the exact problem I've been having. So I apologise if I broke any rules.

As said, it looks like I've having the exact problem discribed here. Attached is the minidump

i'm using windows 7 ultimate 64-bit english

nearly 99% sure it's the wireless acting up -- I experience no BSOD as when I turn off the internal wireless and plug in an external usb wireless adapter.

my laptop is a Dell XPS M1330 - and lucky for me Dell has not posted any windows7 drivers on their support pages. not sure if that info helps with anything.

any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

M

Sorry to bump this thread again. I was having the same problem while traveling. I have a Dell 1747. I use wireless at home without problems. I was at three different hotels in the last week. At one hotel I consistently got a BSOD whenever my wireless connected. it occurred several minutes after connecting, not right away. Having the adapter on but not logged in to the network was not a problem, no blue screen. I forget the exact error number (I think it was 7F) but it related to netbios.sys.

Anyone heard of a particular wireless connection causing this?

Hi Mitch and everyone

my apologies first that I have not come back to the wonderful suggestions made by the moderators and experienced indiviuals on the issue I raised. Also apologies ahead for the many misspelled and rushed response as I'm typing on my iPhone.

For Mitch,
i'd say your issue sounds different from me as the error code
is different but you should really get the crash dump analysis tool and post it here so the experts can look at it.
please look at the historical replies on this thread and see if you can get some pointers. Dot worry about re-creating the crash scenario because the dump files are stored on your Dell already.

As for My Orignal issue, it is resolved. The culprit -- my router and bitorrent app "utorrent"

I don't have the technical explanation but here's what i observed/ tested:
- my router is linksys wrt310n ver 1.0
- I had bsod when computer was idle, but the bsod was almost within minutes if I used utorrent
- what seems to have fixed the issue:
1) turned my router to 802.11g only mode (the router was a pre-n)
2) turn off qos and frameburst (after reading this router has dropped
signal issue with these on)
3) disable upnp and nat something auto port routing on utorrent.

at least that's after over 30 hours of no bsod
I know it doesn't explain why i used to get bsod without any active net traffic on wifi, but it seems to work.
