W7 Bootloader: Boot WinXP from logical during installation process?

I already have Win7 installed with the usual system reserved partition and main partition. Now I want to install both XP and Linux after it. To do this I need to have an extended/logical partition setup so that I can have enough room for Linux+Swap (1st System reserved, 2nd Win7, 3rd WinXP, 4th Linux, and 5th Swap). However, I'm stuck at installing XP.

I can get the initial install going using a BartPE environment. The problem is, that after the XP installer has copied the setup files to the target partition, it cannot then boot from that same partition to resume installation. It simply boots back into Windows 7.

I tried using EasyBCD to create an entry for WinXP so that I could select it in the bootloader, but it cannot create an entry (I'm assuming because nothing has actually been installed yet). How can I get my computer to boot into that XP logical partition to resume installation?

edit: Actually I may just forgo the swap partition and use a page file in Linux instead so I can have 4 primary partitions. Although if anyone knows the answer to the problem it would be nice to know.

I'm assuming you are not intending to use UEFI and have Bypassed UEFI to install normally.

You can convert Win7 partition (not the System Reserved) to Logical so that a Primary becomes available for XP. Video help on how to set partition as Primary or Logical.

Easiest is to repair WIn7 by marking SysReserved Active after XP starts up, then booting into Win7 installer or Repair CD to run http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105541-startup-repair-run-3-separate-times.html until Win7 starts. Install EasyBCD to add XP.

Did you install Windows 7 in UEFI mode, as Win XP x32 will not install in UEFI mode? (The lattest linux will)
Have you looked at using XP Mode, Virtual Player, VMWare, Virtual Box.

Ok as I said before I think I'm going to go with 4 primary partitions; although, now I'm having the seemingly complex problem of installing WinXP from a usb drive (my cdrom broke).

I don't believe I have installed Win7 through UEFI? I install it using a usb and I boot the usb without the UEFI prefix in the boot menu so does that mean I haven't used UEFI?

Anyway my problem now is with installing WinXP on my 3rd partition. I have slipstreamed an XP install with Nlite using my AHCI drivers from Asus. I know the drivers are working because the XP installer has detected them in the past. The problem is that no matter what program I use to write the image to usb, I can't actually get to a fully working XP install. Sometimes I can get past the text mode installer and into the GUI, but then get stuck during the GUI install. Other times I get blue screens during the text mode portion. It's always something different.

Right now it seems my best chance is to use Rufus, an open source installer, but it blue screens while loading up the terms and license agreement. I'm going to see if I can solve that, unless there is a better way?
