W7 Defrag / Firewall

I've been researching a lot and found that the default firewall and defragmenter are the best to use in Windows 7.

Is this true at all?

Also, best AV? I'm using Avira atm.

Since i started using PC's (2 years ago) I've always used Windows Firewall and the built in defragmenter, i've had no issues and see no real need to use 3rd party apps.(my opinion, i'm sure plenty of people will contradict this )
As for AV, i suggest MSE.

Best is subjective. Do Windows Firewall and Defragmenter do a great job? Absolutely. Do they do the best job for me? No. I rely on ZoneAlarm Extreme Security and O&O Defrag.

I haven't been infected in years - and I only use the Windows Firewall, Windows Defender, and a free antivirus (Avira or Avast, depending on the system). I frequently surf the "bad" side of the web as I research issues for others also.

Yet, at work, I see all sorts of people coming in with infected systems. So what's the difference here? I don't consider myself any smarter than most people - so why aren't I infected?

After looking at this for about 3 years I've come to the conclusion that there's 2 things that help me out:

1 - My attitude. I am in control of my system, and no one gets to do anything on my system without my permission. If there's something to click on - the owner better do a durned good job of convincing me that their link/offer is legitimate. I'll research something rather than click on it. If it tries to install on my system, I'll literally yank the plug from the wall before I'll allow anything unknown to install.

2 - My experience. I read a lot about issues on the web, so I know what the threats look like. As such, I'm not as likely to click on the stuff that catches other people.

I've heard a lot of good things about MSE recently, so I'll be giving it a try in the near future too!
