Hi all,
I did a clean install W7 Ultimate (Vista upgrade cd) onto a 120gd SDD loaded my programmes, less programmes than under my Vista setup and the HDD appears to be 61gb of used space?
Under vista same HDD showed about 31gb and Norton ghost with mild compression shows 28gb that's about what I would expect.

I have looked for Windows.old folder and it doesnot appear, even in disc clean up
as an option to delete "previous win files"

Any ideas please

There is a third party app called "treesize pro" it is free for trial and will tell you what files and folder sizes. It will enable you to figure out what is using the space.

Let us know if you need help

Hi Ken,

Thanks for the quick reply, sorry for my late reply however as I have been away.
I have tried a programme called Xinorbis which shows the following major files:
Prog: 5.1 gb
users: 15.42gb
hiberfils.sys: 8.99gb
page files: 11.99gb
windows: 13.8gb

I cannot find the win.old and "users" is no bigger than under vista

Hello JOHNASAT2, welcome to Seven forums!

If you did a clean install you won't have a Windows.old file; it's been a while since I've had one but I believe it should be under C: see the snip below.

You could get rid of the hibernation file (unless you use hibernation) with this command in elevated cmd

powercfg.exe -h off

And 12GB for the pagefile is kind of big too. You can reduce that to e.g. half. The rest looks normal.
