I run Windows-7 Pro on my HP8300 PC using a 4TB GPT formatted disk drive.
It worked great.
I un-cabled the drive.
I then cabled a 160GB MBR formatted disk drive.
I installed Windows-10 on the separate 160GB MBR formatted disk drive.
It also worked great.

I then un-cabled the Windows-10 disk drive and re-cabled the Windows-7 Pro disk drive.

Windows-7 Pro would not boot!

I used my Windows-7 Pro Installed Diskette to attempt to fix the Windows-7 Pro disk drive.

Now, my Windows-7 Pro Diskette 'claims' the Diskette cannot repair the disk drive that is cabled because it is a different version of Windows.

Is there some way that Windows-10 'takes over' a PC and prevents it being used for anything else?

It's most likely your repair disk isn't at the same update level as the installed version which may have had lot of updates. What errors do you get when you try and boot?

Being GPT, the Win7 disk would have required UEFI-boot, wouldn't it? Did you re-enable UEFI when swapping the disks back?

You posted almost same thread at Tenforums.
Your post is a little confused, please confirm

- You installed Win 7 on the 4T HDD.
Did you detach ALL other disks?
Did you installed as UEFI-GPT or Legacy-MBR?

- You installed Win 10 on the 160G SSD.
Did you detach ALL other disks?
Did you installed as UEFI-GPT or Legacy-MBR?

Attach win 7 and win 10 disks
Boot win 10
Open a CMD window as administrator.
Type:
diskpart (to enter diskpart)
list disk (to list the disks. You will see your disk and the type (MBR or GPT)
exit ( (to exit diskpart)
exit (to close the CMD window).
