W7 Language Packs in Updates necessary?

1. Just noticed in Win7 Updates list all the language packs. Are these the Packs themselves or merely updates to the pre-existing Packs within W7?

2. Regardless of answer to Ques#1, is there any reason not to delete these update Packs from the update list instead of installing them? I see no reason to clutter up W7 anymore than necessary.

3. I assume if I chose to delete these updates (the packs), I can check-box them and hit "delete", right?

if you right click on them you can hide the update , they are only necessary if you need to use a diferent language

Welcome!

Unless you want the language packs, there is no reason to install them. You're right, all it will do is take up hard drive space.

You cannot actually delete them; however, you can right-click on them and click Hide.

Later, if you ever decide you want them, you can select Restore Hidden Updates from the left-hand pane.

It does help, thank you JK (and to Pebbly). And also I'm trying to learn (amap) about W7, so do you happen to know whether these update Packs from the update list are the the complete language packs themselves or merely updates to the pre-existing Packs within Windows 7? In other words, do I already have the packs on board now and these are only the updates?

Reason:
I'm trying to determine what I can eliminate from by boot drive... because I want to get an SSD replacement for my boot; however, right now most SSDs are ridiculously small 32, 64, 128, 160, and a few very expensive 256 & 320GBs. I need to keep O/S and applications as small as possible. Adobe CS4 suites and Corel suites, etc are large appls and must be installed along w/ others. So I need to watch my boot space.
