W7 Pro 64-bit Random Problems during Install

I've been trying to install Windows 7 Professional 64-bit for three weeks now. I've troubleshot everything I can think of, so I'm coming to you all for help.

My system (which I just built) is:

Gigabyte EP45-UD3P (Rev. 1.6) FD

4 x 2 GB PNY Optima 240-PIN DDR2 PC2-5300 667/533/400 MHz

Intel Core 2 Quad (Q9550)
- Freq. 2.83 GHz - 12 MB L2 Cache
- FSB 1333 MHz - Socket LGA775
- Core 45nm

EVGA 512-P3-N871-AR GeForce 9800 GTX 512MB 256-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16


When I try to install, either somewhere in the install I'll get an error (sometimes a blue screen, sometimes a "Can't read from disk" error, sometimes a "Corrupted Files" error, etc ...), or I'll get a similar one as windows tries to start for the first time (to complete installation).

I've tried everything I can think of --

• Memtest86+ for 48 hours w/ no errors
• Tried each stick of RAM individually, both in Memtest86+ and install, to no avail.
• Tried 3 different hard drives from two different manufacturers
• RMA'd the Motherboard

Any other suggestions?

Can you default to onboard graphics in BIOS (and by removing Video Card) during install?

Have you checked for a BIOS update for your mobo?

What is the source of your Win7? Did you burn it yourself? Verify against ISO using ImgBurn, then reburn at 4x speed with Verify.

Have you tried using a different computer to copy the files from the install disk to a USB stick and installing that way? Sounds like you could be having problems with the optical drive, and maybe installing from usb would work where using the disk failed... or you could try replacing the optical drive, but a 4GB flash drive is cheaper..

The board has no onboard graphics, so I can't remove the video card.

I have cleared the CMOS at least ten times

The MoBo is at the latest BIOS (Nov 2009 or so)

I have a Win 7 Pro DVD I bought from Newegg, but I've tried with two different copies of Win 7 Pro (not from same DVD) and it hasn't worked. I also tried installing via a USB HDD, which gave me the exact same errors. I can try that again tho, as it sounds most likely to me that there is a disk controller problem either in the CD or HDD realm.

Are you booting the DVD ?

Have you tried wiping the HD so that the DVD will autostart?
