How do I stop windows 7 start menu from showing programs I have not ran directly, such as it will show my document viewing program even though I never clicked on the actual icon to run it, but it was run by association. Same goes for my zip compression program, it will display in the list if I opened a bunch of zip files. PDF program, even windows explorer will display in the Start Menu list, even though I have not clicked on them threw All Programs list.
I still want to have a list of programs that I run, but only the ones that I have actually clicked on via the Start Menu. It's more of an annoyance where some programs will get bumped out because I opened a PDF file and Sumatra PDF makes an appearance in the list.
There is probably no way to stop this behavior the way I would like to, and Google searching is just showing how to disable the feature entirely.
Any suggestions?

Ah yes, that is how I have it setup, as I did not like the task bar showing recently opened folders as it became way to cluttered, and I did not like how the Star Menu would expand out when files opened under that program would be listed as well.
However, this still does not address the issue I have with the behavior of the Start Menu displaying any program that was run regardless of it being clicked on directly or associated by file opening.
I would like the Start Menu to only display the recent programs I have directly ran threw the All Programs menu. I do not what it to show any other program which was ran by association or otherwise ran outside of the Start Menu All Programs shortcut list. I do not think this behavior is possible, but that is why I am asking, instead of just assuming.
