What are your system specs. I doubt if your specs can handle it.

I am not too worried about the specs as I run W7 Enterprise on Atom 1.6gb desktop pc with mini-itx m/board. Full install of W7 Ent but I have made stripped down version of W7 Ent 1.3Gb .iso totall install +/- 3.8gb so the issue is not wether the pc can run it properly but if I can install W7 Enterprise after W7 Starter and run as a dual boot. If not Puppy 5 Linux. Regards M

I did not want to lose the pre-installed W7 starter and my W7 ent runs out in a few months time use the concurrent login and remote desktop all the time which starter v does not have. The W7 Starter is on a Acer netbook, which should arrive tomorrow. I did not want to interfere with starter. I am quite familar with dual booting a while back as an exersize for my students we installed booted W98 NT W2000 Xp & RedHat 9 on one pc. I just have not tried this before. The W7 Ent will be sort of vLited to 1.3gb .iso runs real quick. As I write how would I save the pre-installed W7 starter so maybe I only install Enterprise but can re-install W7 starter in the future.

Find someone that has the same version DVD and use that to reinstall later and use the activation key on the COA sticker attached to the PC to activate.

You can create an "all versions" installer (as long as it's the same bit-rate) with this tutorial at this link below.

Windows 7 Universal Installation Disc - Create

You may have to use this info to make a robo-call to MS to sort the batch key to complete the activation, no big deal though.

Activate Windows 7 by Phone

You Vlited for size, right? There is no performance clawback found Vliting Win7 over months of tests - it is too lean and stripped down already. Strip out networking or security services and you will have issues elsewhere. It simply doesn't pay in any way except for size.

Dual booting is fine. Another option with built-in Drive Imaging is to save externally a Win7 backup image to reimage Starter in 15 minutes.
