W7 x64 Upgrade

I currently use Vista Home Premium on my HP DV7-1247 x64 laptop.

I puchased & await my Oct 22 delivery of the X64 upgrade
to W7 from Microsoft.

I have never accomplished a new upgrade so my question
is, is it better to upgrade online or offline.

I would, just to get any upgrades necessary for installation, but you certainly dont have to.
