Wacom Cintiq losing signal

I am running Windows 7 with dual monitors, one of which is a wacom
cintiq.
Both monitors started randomly losing signal. The tower was still
running and I could still hear what I had been listening to on
headphones. I forced restart and things returned to normal, but the
problem happened again every hour or so.

This happened five or six times, then on one of the restarts the
computer would not respond to any click I made with the pen or mouse.
It would track the pen/mouse but as soon as I clicked anything (file,
folder, start button etc.) it would freeze and show me the waiting
symbol. Sometimes the waiting symbol would eventually stop but without
performing the action I had attempted. Re-clicking got the same
results.

The clicks would work normally when I started in "Safe mode".

I turned off the power for a day and now when I try to start up the
tower makes a much louder hum than before and the monitors never pick
up the signal.

Any of this sound familiar? I would really appreciate some advice
before having to take it in somewhere.
Thanks.

It has happened to me before that my monitors suddenly stopped working. To me it sounds like a graphics card problem. How old is it? Do you have a Motherboard integrated graphics card too? Try plugging it into the motherboard.

Also the hum seems to be a fan, right? Is the graphics card or anything full of dust? The components could be overheating and causing issues. Try cleaning it a bit with a pressure duster.

Considering the mouse and keyboard issues it could also be the motherboard that is failing. How old is that?

Thanks,
Both the graphic card and the motherboard are almost three years old.
I don't have an integrated graphics card.
It has been "dusted" pretty recently, but I am going to open it up and clean it out again to see if there is any difference.

Please write down your pc specs (CPU, motherboard, RAM, graphics card,...) and the monitors' model.

Well well some help has arrived :P.
Perhaps it is due to a faulty motherboard. Have you added any new stuff lately? A new device at be incompatible or be interfering.
Of course, also make sure your graphics card is plugged in firmly.
Is you power supply working well? Show us the voltages with HWMonitor from CPUID.
