Hi all! I have recently ran into a problem that I cannot seem to be able to get a handle on. So just to get this out of the way, I have not made any changes to my system since I installed a new HDD last month. It is just a slave that I use for data. Win 7 Home Premium 64/ 8G ram/ HP 6005 Pro.

All of my drivers are up to date, I use DriverBooster to aid with that.

Anyway, on to my problem. I normally leave my computer on but reboot it every day or two depending on how much I have been using it. But over the past few days, if I leave my computer and come back to it later one of two things happens. Either it will not come out of sleep mode at all and I have to give the power button a quick push to get it to shut down, or if it does wake up, my screen resolution is way off so everything goes off the screen and I even have a hard time getting to my start button to do a restart.

When I do a restart, the screen resolution goes back to normal and every thing seems to work fine.

What I have done. I have checked and have not received any updates to Win7 or any other software, I have checked Event Viewer and did not see anything in there. I ran a complete scan with AVG and MalwareBytes. Neither showed anything and I setup AVG to do a boot scan and nothing showed there either. So, running out of ideas I ran SFC/scannow and everything came back perfect there as well with no files getting flagged.

So, I am out of ideas. Can anyone else think of anything that I may have missed?

Thanks for reading!
Jim

I would say that the computer is getting out of sleep (you can shutdown by pressing Start button). I would say that the problem is with the graphics card / driver.
Sometime programs like DriverBooster can install a beta driver that doesn't run well.
My suggestion is to uninstall the graphics card driver (device manager), reboot and then install the original graphics card driver. Then go to the ATI Radeon and download the driver for the Radeon HD 4200.
