Waking PC up

I have this recurring problem with all versions of Windows 7. I am a small system builder, and have not been able to find an answer to this question. Why is it taking so long for the PC to wake up? I have tweaked the settings to "NEVER" turn off the hard drive, never go into hibernation, sleep or other function where the user is not able to access the PC. The only way I can workaround this problem is to LOG OFF, then log back on. If not, the PC can take up to five minutes to respond. What am I missing? Does Microsoft have an answer to this?
This is not platform specific, as it has occurred with over a dozen different motherboards, bios settings, CPUs, memory configurations, and OS flavor, such as Ultimate, Professional, and Home Premium, both 32 and 64 bit, and even affects laptops.
This is a widespread problem, and needs to be addressed.

First thing that comes to my mind. Is graphics card or driver problems. Update the graphics driver.
Go to device manager and look for any yellow warning markers, showing Graphics card problems.

type this in an elevated command prompt to find potential problems
powercfg -lastwake

What part of this would suggest a particular graphics card?

Nothing in that statement suggests a specfic card. That being said, since I do not know of any specifc bug that causes a common problem, I like to start at sqare one. Although a card was probably not the cause of all the problems in the past, it may be this time. I thought it wise to start with the most likely causes for this situation, disregarding what has ocrurred in the past. I can say that I have had no such problem and use the sleep function everynight and several times during the day.

Buzzard,

What are the results from running powercfg -lastwake

Incidentally, graphic card drivers have, historically, been responsible for many varied problems. I'm not saying that is the source of your problems, but neither would I be surprised.

Just to make sure that we cover all bases--
Will the system wake up by tapping the Ctrl key?

Will the system wake up by moving a mouse pointer?

Does this problem occur if the bios settings are at their default values?

Could you give us the hardware details on one of the systems that demonstrates this problem? This will help us to help you.

As Rich relates we do not see a lot of sleep problems here and we would if problem is "widespread".

That's why typical troubleshooting steps are offered:

reinstalling and updating Display Driver (80% of times responsible by a rough guesstimate),

disabling wake on alert in Driver Power Management,

ATAPI sleep settings set right: http://www.sevenforums.com/installation-setup/30124-bios-settings-s1-s3-hybrid-sleep.html,

Monitor Event Viewer>Admin View to google repeat errors to resolve them. Trigger sleep via timer then check errors logged in Performance-Diagnostic log accessed by clicking through WEI score at Computer>Properties to Advanced Tools. Look for cued issues at top of Tools page, and Generate a System Health Report.

Thank you all for your responses. This link is for a google search on the problem.
