WannaCry Ransomware

- Make backups
- Make them regularly
- Keep them disconnected from the main system, when not being made, (off site is better is practical)
- Keep you system fully patched WanaCry uses quite old vulnerabilities.
- Run a reliable anti-Malware, preferably one with specific Ransomware protection
This combination should stop WanaCry and it's variations, The backups mean that even if you get hit by some new Zero Day exploit you can recover
There is also the technique for WanaCry of disabling the SMB1 Service which is used to propagate the code locally, but you must first check that none of you other devices rely on this for communication, (My TV's do)
