Solved Want to download torrent direct into wifi-router's usb port-pendrive.

Hello Sevenforums,

HARDWARE- I have Win 7,Home Premium,64bit,Dell Inspiron 15R N5010, Netgear DGN2200v3 wifi router+ADSL modem with USB port supporting various printers,drives & portable harddisc,1mbps broadband net connection.
SOFTWARE-utorrent 3.3

I want to save my torrent download data directly into pen drive/hard disc connected to usb port of wifi router without keeping my laptop on to monitor the downloads(without running utorrent software).
Please help me on this possibility, so that after programming this plan I can switch off my laptop and utorrent continues its download into pen drive/hard disc connected to usb port of wifi-router. Is it practically possible? I googled on this topic but didn't found any post or source on this matter.
Please reply with solution to fulfill this need.

Although it may be possible to access the Pen drive from outside your system dependent on opening the correct ports etc, torrents would require a program running in the router to do what you require, apart from utilising a PC as a router, you need the torrent software on your laptop to control the torrent download

I can save downloading data on pen drive connected to usb port of wifi router but how to run utorrent after switching off laptop? That seems impossible, but how to run torrent software on router? I as far as I know router don't have facility of installing software & running on it. So how one can control torrent download software after switching computer off?

You will not be able to run torrent software on a regular commercially available router, you would need to use a device capable of running the software as a router ie. a PC of some kind, this would need to have a number of network ports and be set-up to route any torrent traffic to it's local software and save to an attached drive - it may be possible to build such a routing device, but cost of build would be impractical for your use and would probably cost as much to run as leaving your laptop running as you now do

This would be a low cost solution...

you would need a monitor, but you might be able to run without it through connecting remotely from your main comp.

You could probably also set up an autohotkey script to launch programs etc.

Thank you Thorsen & Barman58 for clearing my query,
Suggestion given by you are good & possible, but for me its seems better the conventional way of downloads, I won't purchase Pi but acknowledging such technology is great for me. I can't spend to buy new resources & tried to manage this in available gadgets, but its not possible now for me, latter I will try for it.

have bitorrent shutdown the pc when the downloads finish.

options/auto shutdown/shutdown when downloads complete.

not the same as you were looking for but it will mean your laptop is not running constantly.
